Ref-Chem Announces Leadership Promotions to Boost Its Offerings in Multiple Heavy Industrial Construction Markets

HOUSTON, Texas (March 23, 2022) — Ref-Chem, a Burns & McDonnell company, recently promoted four of its construction professionals to the position of manager of projects. Dedicated to providing top quality services to Burns & McDonnell customers, Ron Hawley, Dana Irby, Chris Martin and Michael McMurtry will oversee the overall direction, growth and leadership of the industries they serve.

“These four individuals have excelled at construction project management through the course of their careers,” says Jeff W. Rashall, Ref-Chem president. “They are the right group to lead their teams toward continued growth and success serving diverse clients around the country.”

·       Ron Hawley is promoted to manager of projects for electric power generation, which covers projects in both the fossil fuel and renewables markets. His career includes project manager and project director roles for international construction firms. Hawley graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management.

·       Dana Irby is promoted to manager of projects for oil, gas and chemicals. He has more than 30 years of industrial construction and maintenance experience for construction companies in Texas and other locations. Irby, who has an associate degree in electromechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in business management, is a CMRP, accredited by the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals.

·       Chris Martin is promoted to manager of projects for aviation. Martin joined Ref-Chem in 2019 as a program manager for an oil and gas customer. Prior to joining Ref-Chem, he managed construction projects and project management groups for companies in the Houston area. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

·       Michael McMurtry is promoted to manager of projects for industrial/manufacturing. He has 10 years of experience at Ref-Chem. In his new role, McMurtry directs and grows projects in industries including manufacturing, food and consumer products, mission critical and data center facilities, commercial buildings, and on-site energy and power. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.

Acquired by Burns & McDonnell in 2018, Ref-Chem has successfully performed on projects in industries including oil and gas, renewable energy, power distribution, food and consumer products, water, and aviation.
